NEW JERSEY’S TRAIN GRAVEYARD
In the waters of the coast of New Jersey lie two huge locomotives, which explorers believe were in transit aboard a ship and must have fallen overboard during a storm. Because they have been underwater for more than 160 years, the locomotives are surprisingly well preserved.
SS THISTLEGORM
The SS Thistlegorm was a British merchant navy ship that sunk in the Red Sea in 1941. On its way to resupply Allied troops in Egypt, the ship was attacked and sunk by German warplanes. Jacques-Yves Cousteau discovered the wreck in the 1950s, and it is now a popular scuba diving site.
